Notice for Educators: Hurricane Preparedness Teacher Toolkits to Arrive this Fall

Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s 2019 Hurricane Preparedness Teacher Toolkits will arrive at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, rather than at the end of this one. Their new delivery date is intended to coincide with the peak of hurricane season, which occurs in August and September.

What is the Hurricane Preparedness Teacher Toolkit?
Each year, Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) distributes Hurricane Preparedness Teacher Toolkits to schools on the Texas coast. They include classroom exercises to help third, fourth, and fifth grade educators teach about the science of hurricanes and how to prepare for one.

Toolkits are provided free of charge as a public service of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.

Where can I find last year’s Teacher Toolkit?
Should you or your school wish to use exercises included in the 2018 Hurricane Preparedness Teacher Toolkit as a part of your year-end curriculum, they are available on the TWIA Hurricane Preparedness webpage.
