Upcoming Meeting of the Actuarial & Underwriting Committee

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (Association) Actuarial & Underwriting Committee will meet Tuesday, November 19 at 1:30 p.m. for review and possible action regarding development of recommendations to the Association’s Board of Directors (Board) concerning rate filings as permitted by law, rate adequacy issues, and strategies. The Association’s rate adequacy analysis was originally posted on July 22.

The Committee met on October 17 and directed TWIA staff to provide written comments to the Committee on issues raised by the Committee during the meeting. The Committee is meeting on November 19 to consider staff’s comments and formulate a recommendation to the TWIA Board for possible consideration at the Board’s December 10 quarterly meeting in Corpus Christi.

This is not a meeting of the TWIA Board of Directors. The role of the Actuarial & Underwriting Committee is advisory and no action on a rate filing can be taken at this meeting.

The agenda and meeting materials for this meeting are available at www.twia.org/about-us/#board-meetings. The meeting materials include TWIA staff's response to the Actuarial & Underwriting Committee and a rebuttal to the response from Committee member Stephen Alexander.

Members of the public may submit comments about items to be considered by the Actuarial & Underwriting Committee prior to the meeting by emailing PublicComment@twia.org. Comments received by noon CT on Friday, November 15 will be shared with members of the Committee and the TWIA Board. Comments submitted to TWIA are subject to the Texas Public Information Act. TWIA may post public comments received, with personally identifiable information redacted, to its website.

All meetings of the TWIA Board of Directors and its committees are open to the public. Members of the public may attend the meeting in person at TWIA’s offices in Austin. TWIA also livestreams all Board meetings and committee meetings at www.twia.org/about-us/#board-meetings, other than closed executive sessions. A quorum of the TWIA Board may attend this committee meeting.
