Postponed: TWIA Actuarial & Underwriting Committee Reviews Proposals for Actuarial Services

UPDATE: In light of recent developments concerning the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the meeting of the TWIA Actuarial & Underwriting Committee previously scheduled for March 23, 2020 has been postponed. The meeting will be rescheduled when the Committee is able to convene in a manner consistent with protecting the safety and health of Committee members, TWIA employees, and stakeholders and in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s (TWIA) Actuarial & Underwriting Committee will meet on Monday, March 23 to continue its evaluation of proposals for actuarial services submitted in response to the Association’s February 6 request for proposals (RFP).

TWIA identified 15 qualified firms and invited them to submit proposals by February 26. Seven firms submitted proposals by the deadline. TWIA staff scored the proposals against an agreed set of criteria. The Actuarial & Underwriting Committee met on March 10 and reviewed the proposals and staff’s scoring of the proposals, selecting four for further consideration.

These four firms will be invited to make a presentation and answer questions from the Committee at the March 23 meeting. TWIA expects to enter into an engagement with the selected firm by early April.

All meetings of the TWIA Board of Directors and its committees are open to the public. TWIA also livestreams all Board meetings and committee meetings at www.twia.org/about-us/#board-meetings. Closed sessions of the Board are not livestreamed.
