The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is requesting, on behalf of its Board of Directors, proposals from qualified independent actuarial consulting firms to provide an evaluation of the rate adequacy of TWIA’s residential and commercial wind/hail policies (“Rate Indications”). The TWIA Board approved a resolution at its December 10, 2019 meeting directing the Association to develop the request for proposals (RFP) for the purpose of supporting the Actuarial & Underwriting Committee of the Board’s rate recommendation to the TWIA Board of Directors at its August 4, 2020 meeting. TWIA is required by law to make a rate filing with the Texas Department of Insurance by August 15 each year.
Initial proposals are due no later than February 26, 2020. Qualified parties who would like to participate in the RFP process should convey their interest via email to ActuarialRFP@twia.org.
TWIA has provided responses to the written questions that were received by the February 14, 2020 deadline in connection with the RFP. Additional questions may be made prior to the February 26, 2020 submission deadline by emailing ActuarialRFP@twia.org. We will do our best to respond to all questions by the established deadline.
