At its August 4 meeting, the TWIA Board of Directors deliberated on the Association’s annual required rate filing with the Texas Department of Insurance. The Board voted to file a 0 percent rate change in the required filing. The Board also voted to revisit the issue of rates at an interim meeting of the Board to be scheduled before its December quarterly meeting.
In making their decision, the TWIA Board considered both written and in-person testimony from the public. In the interest of transparency and consistent with prior practice, we have posted the written public comments received for the August 4 Board meeting. Certain personally identifiable information, such as names and contact information, has been redacted to protect the privacy of those individuals, some of whom may be TWIA policyholders.
The date and details of the interim meeting of the Board to revisit the issue of rates will be posted to the TWIA website once they have been determined. In addition to the annual required filing, statute allows TWIA to make a rate filing with TDI at any time.
The Board’s next quarterly meeting will be held virtually on December 8, 2020.
