TWIA Moratorium Extended

Hurricane Marco was downgraded to a tropical depression before briefly making landfall in Louisiana and dissipating. Although Marco no longer poses a threat to the TWIA coverage areas, Hurricane Laura has entered the Gulf of Mexico and continues to strengthen.

The TWIA moratorium on accepting new and increased coverage applications remains in effect until further notice. This moratorium began at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020 and will remain in effect until the TWIA General Manager determines that Hurricane Laura no longer threatens property within the designated catastrophe area of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.

We will notify TWIA agents and other stakeholders when the moratorium has ended. Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on TWIA’s storm preparations and response.

TWIA policyholders, or their agents, whose insured properties sustain damage can file claims online at www.twia.org/claimscenter. Claims can also be filed by calling TWIA’s 24-hour claims care team at (800) 788-8247.
