At its August 3 meeting, the TWIA Board of Directors deliberated on the Association’s annual required rate filing with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). The Board voted 5 to 3 to file a 5% rate increase for residential and commercial policies. The filing must be made by August 15 and may be subject to review by TDI in some circumstances. The new rates are expected to go into effect for policies issued or renewed starting January 1, 2022.
In making their decision, the TWIA Board considered both written and verbal testimony from the public. In the interest of transparency and consistent with prior practice, we have posted the written public comments received for the August 3 Board meeting. Certain personally identifiable information, such as names and contact information, has been redacted to protect the privacy of those individuals, some of whom may be TWIA policyholders.
Verbal public comment delivered at the meeting may be heard on the archived recording of the meeting.
The Board’s next meeting will be held on December 7, 2021 at the Omni Hotel in Corpus Christi.
