Hurricane Season is Here and TWIA is Ready to Respond
Published on: June 1, 2026Attention Agents: Hurricane season is here, and TWIA policyholders can count on us to be ready to respond when a storm impacts the Texas coast.
TWIA is Ready to Respond
TWIA has secured access to $4.3 billion in funding for the 2026 hurricane season, meeting our statutory funding requirement to respond to a 1-in-50-year storm season.
Our Catastrophe (CAT) Incident Response Plan, updated annually, helps ensure we are prepared to respond quickly and effectively and support policyholders in the recovery process after a hurricane.

Outreach to Coastal Residents
TWIA supports a range of outreach and education efforts that help coastal residents understand one of the most important parts of hurricane preparedness: how their windstorm insurance works before they need to use it.
Our annual outreach efforts include both virtual and in-person events, providing information on TWIA policy coverage, windstorm certification, and catastrophe response (hear from TWIA’s catastrophe planning expert on how policyholders can prepare for the 2026 storm season).
Coastal Preparedness Expo
TWIA is hosting a free Coastal Preparedness Expo on Saturday, July 18, at College of the Mainland in Texas City (image above). Agents in the Galveston area: Don’t miss a free, in-person one-hour CE course offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. No registration necessary.
Invitations to agents in Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, and Harris Counties will go out next week. Learn more at twia.org/expo.
